At today's Veterans Day program, VFW Post Commander John Dobbs announced the winners of the Patriot Pen essay contest. First place winner is Lily Trujillo, 6th grade. Second place winner is Owley Sudderth, 7th grade. Third place winner is Blake McIntosh, 8th grade. Congratulations to our winners on a great job! Eleven students from our school entered the Patriot Pen essay contest, enclosed are highlights from their essays. Each of these students had something compelling to say on the topic of showing patriotism for our country.
The items pictured are available at Skyline School. There is no set price for these items, it's by donation only. Items can be paid for and picked up today through Friday the 14th, from 11 am - 4 pm. If interested, please call the school at 417-683-4874 to set up a time to come in.
Preschool had fun this morning exploring pumpkins and using them creatively during center time.
Reminder: Our Veterans Day program/flag retirement ceremony is tomorrow the 11th at 1 pm.
The Skyline 3rd and 4th grade Tigers enjoyed beautiful weather at the local museums in Mansfield, MO today! We began our journey touring Laura Ingalls Wilder's home then went to partake in a scavenger hunt at the museum. From there we participated in a "pioneer lunch" at the nearby park and walked this off on a 1 mile walking trail taking us to The Rock House for another informational tour of the home Rose Wilder had built for her parents. To wrap our educational adventure we went to the Mansfield Community building to listen to authors read and ignite the love of the writing process during the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Literature Festival hosted by the Laura Ingalls Wilder Children's Literature Festival Committee.

Our preK thru 3rd grade had a visitor today, Smokey the Bear. Thanks to the Missouri Department of Conservation and the Skyline Area Volunteer Fire Department for providing a fun afternoon for our students, and teaching about fire safety. More pictures to come!
If you are planning to attend the pumpkin patch tomorrow with us, please bring cash (exact change if possible) as there will be no credit card machine. The tickets are $7.00 per person. Mrs. C. Willhite will be collecting the money at the pumpkin patch.
Our apologies on the Pumpkin Patch confusion, we didn’t realize the wrong time was put on the notes that were sent home. We will be leaving the school around 10:00. When we arrive, we will eat lunch, and then explore the pumpkin patch from 11:30 to 1:00. We should arrive back at the school around 2:00. We are looking forward to a great field trip tomorrow for preK thru second grade!
