Nurse Raquel and Mr. Top at Skyline School

Skyline R-II School District was pleased to be chosen as a recipient of the Louis L. and Julia Dorothy Coover Charitable Foundation/Rural School Partnership grant. This grant, in the amount of $5000, helped fund our school nurse, Raquel Cumby and counselor, Les Top.

Mr. Top was able to increase the number of days he worked with kids here at the school. He was able to visit with each student at least once and with several of the kids multiple times throughout the year.

We were able to increase our nurse's hours and make her a full-time employee for the school year.  Nurse Raquel shared this about her experience this past year..."Overall, my year at Skyline School has been busy but also very rewarding. I came in to this position without having any prior experience in a school as a health clerk. I believe that I accepted and met the challenge and the learning curve. This year the health office had 872 student visits. Of those visits, students were only sent home for injury/illness 61 times. There were no emergency calls this year. Our student health office visits also declined from over 1,000 the previous year. I believe that early intervention and early screenings played a large role in overall improved student health. I look forward to another school year at Skyline this Fall. Thank you for the opportunity."

We are grateful to the Community Foundation of the Ozarks for selecting Skyline for this grant!
