From Mrs. Brixey: Kindergarten celebrated St Patrick's Day making hats and dressing up. We sorted and counted Lucky Charms by shapes then we made math problems out of them. We made catapults and fired cereal onto our pot of gold. The kids had to adjust their aim to get the cereal to land on their pot of gold.
From Mrs. Goss: FIrst grade celebrated St. Patrick's Day in a big way this week. We learned about inventors and how people invented things, with specific focus on Benjamin Franklin and George Washington Carver.who were mentioned in our Reading. Then on Thursday before heading home we read "How To Catch A Leprechaun" and became inventors! First graders created their own leprechaun traps hoping to lure one in with "shiny things." When we arrived at class this morning our leprechaun had created quite the scene! Chairs were toppled, our classroom disheveled, traps were triggered, shiny things were gone, and little green footprints were left behind. While we were cleaning up the mess left behind we found a note from our Leprechaun who had left us some "gold treasure" for our trouble. We took a walking field trip looking for others that may have had a leprechaun visit. We didn't find our culprit, but we did find Mrs. Strong who was decked out in her finest green attire. We finished up our day with Lucky Charm math. First grade sorted their marshmallows, graphed them, completed some "Lucky Addition," completed patterns, and finished with an "I Spy In My Cereal Bowl" activity. Our leprechaun was tricky and never got caught, but First Grade had a good time chasing him!
